Does Cheetah provide technical support or is Cheetah contracted to someone else?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are two other things you should know about DSL
and speed:
1. DSL slows down and degrades the further you live
from their facilities. In fact if you live beyond 18,000 feet from their
main office or DSLAM you cannot get DSL.
2. DSL's so-called "dedicated" connection
is only for the short distance between your home and their facilities.
From that point on, the DSL connection becomes "shared" with
all other DSL users, and phone traffic.

What are the system
requirements?
Computer Minimum System Requirements
The table below lists the minimum and recommended system requirements
for using the Cheetah service.

How fast is Cheetah when compared to a dial-up modem or DSL line?
Cheetah is a very fast up to 1 Mbps downstream
x 512 Kbps upstream cable connection. With a 1 Mbps download it is approximately
55x faster than a 56.6K dial-up modem. The math for that is: 3,000,000
bits per second divided by 53,000 bits per second, which equals 56.6x
faster or 55 rounded down. It is also almost 4x faster than a standard
768 Kbps DSL line. So all in all a super fast connection for unbeatable
price and service.

Do I need
a phone line to use Cheetah?
No. Cheetah works through the same cable that
brings TV to your home. Other technologies like a dial-up modem or DSL
(digital subscriber line) require an active phone line. Not requiring
an active phone line, is great news for people with cell phones who
are looking to rid themselves of traditional phone lines (also known
as land lines).

If I already
have Cable service will Cheetah affect my Cable when I watch TV?
No. Cheetah does not affect your Cable service.
Cable services all use distinctly different channels, you can watch
TV and surf the Net simultaneously without impacting any individual
service.

DSL providers
say that DSL is a dedicated line and that cable modems are "shared"
and they will slow down when other people in my neighborhood also log
on. Is this true?
Truth is, ALL Internet technologies (including
DSL) are shared and no one can guarantee or control speed, due to variables
inherent to the Internet. What the DSL companies want you to believe
is that cable modems will slow down when more users come online and
that DSL does not slow down because it is "dedicated", not
shared. The Cheetah service works over a powerful hybrid fiber-coaxial
(HFC) infrastructure. Even in a shared neighborhood loop, there
is a scaled amount of bandwidth available to all Cheetah customers,
so everyone gets a great connection.

How secure
is Cheetah?
We take security, yours and ours, very seriously.
For our part, we've designed Cheetah's cable modems to deliver data
only to the address that has been assigned to your computer. This prevents
the interception of data that any user sends or receives. In addition,
the modems we use support the encryption of data sent to and from the
computer. That adds a layer of security you can't get with phone modems.
Many computers and operating systems include features that allow you
to share files or printers with other computers on a home network. These
features are designed to allow you to decide what, and what not, to
share with other users. This sort of "sharing" has to be set
up in a specific, safe way or you may be open to a security risk when
you connect to the Internet via dial-up, DSL or cable modem. For this
reason, Cheetah specialists will secure file and print-sharing on your
computer when installing our service. We may also recommend that you
safeguard your computer with a password.
